Preparing game assets...
Play chess online for free against the computer or a friend, right in your browser. This version was made by the CrazyArcade team and follows the full rules of the game. Pieces move as usual, and castling, en passant and pawn promotion are all supported. When a pawn reaches the last rank you choose a queen, rook, bishop or knight. The game ends in checkmate, or in a draw by stalemate, threefold repetition, the 50-move rule or insufficient material. In vs Computer mode you pick a level and a color: White, Black or Random. Easy looks only one move ahead and plays loosely, so it leaves pieces hanging now and then. Medium searches a few moves deep and sometimes picks a different good move to keep games varied. Hard thinks for up to about one second per move and searches as deep as it can in that time. The board stays responsive while the computer thinks. Your wins are saved in your browser, with a separate count for each level. In 2 Players mode, two people take turns on the same device. Legal moves show as dots when you pick up a piece, the last move is highlighted and a king in check glows red. The panel keeps a move list in standard algebraic notation and shows who is ahead in material. You can undo moves and flip the board at any time.

A: Yes. Undo takes back your last move together with the computer's reply, so it is your turn again. It also works after the game ends, so you can go back and try a different line.
A: Yes. The game ends in a draw on stalemate, when the same position appears three times, after 50 moves by each side with no capture or pawn move, or when neither side has enough material left to checkmate.
