Neon Snake is a snake game we built ourselves for CrazyArcade. You steer a glowing line around a dark board with a 24 by 15 grid. Each piece of food adds a point and makes the snake one block longer, and the run ends as soon as the head hits a wall or any part of the body. The twist that keeps it interesting is speed. The snake starts slow, but every five pieces of food it moves a little faster, until each step comes much sooner than it did at the start. A long snake on a fast board leaves little room for error, so the game slowly changes from a quick reflex test into a planning game where you think a few turns ahead. It runs on computers and phones. On a keyboard you use the arrows or W, A, S and D, and on a touch screen you can swipe or press the arrow buttons in the corner. Your best score is saved in your browser, so you can keep trying to beat it.
