How to Play Mahjong Solitaire
Play Mahjong Solitaire online for free, a calm tile matching puzzle made by the CrazyArcade team. The board holds 144 tiles stacked in layers. Your goal is to remove every tile by matching pairs. You can only take a tile that is free, which means no tile lies on top of it and its left or right side is open. Pick two identical free tiles and they disappear. The set has dots, bamboo and number suits from 1 to 9, four winds, three dragons, four flowers and four seasons. Any flower matches any other flower, and any season matches any other season. There are three layouts. Pyramid is the classic five layer stack with single tiles on its sides. Fortress has walls and four corner towers. Garden is a flat, easy board of four short columns with a second layer on top. Every deal is built by placing pairs in reverse, so each new board can always be cleared. The panel shows the tiles left, how many free matches are open, your time and your best time for the layout. Hint lights up a matching pair and adds 10 seconds. Shuffle mixes the remaining tiles into a new arrangement that can still be solved and adds 30 seconds. Undo takes back moves and shuffles. If no free pairs remain, you can shuffle, undo or start a new game. Show Free dims blocked tiles if you want extra help.

Pro Tips to Win
- Clear tiles on the highest layers and at the ends of long rows first, since they block the most other tiles.
- When three or four copies of a tile are free, think about which pair to take: removing the wrong two can leave the last copies trapped under each other.
- Watch the Matches counter. If it drops to 1 or 0, use Undo before reaching for a Shuffle, which costs 30 seconds.

Q: Can every board be solved?
A: Yes. Each deal is created by placing matching pairs in reverse order of a legal clearing, so a full solution always exists. Shuffle also rebuilds the remaining tiles in a way that keeps them solvable.
Q: How is my best time counted?
A: The clock runs while you play and pauses on the menu. Each hint adds 10 seconds and each shuffle adds 30. When you clear all 144 tiles, your time is saved as the best for that layout if it beats your previous record.
